Column Reference Grids

Checklist

  1. Numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) should be used for Column designations extending right to left. Number 1 should begin on the extreme right hand side of Floor Plan, either above or below the Floor Plan. Preferable below the Floor Plan.

  2. Letters {A, B, C, etc.) should be used for Column designations extending from bottom to top and shall always be located to the right of the Floor Plan. Letter A should designate the first column in the lower right hand comer of the Floor Plan.

  3. Miscellaneous columns shall be designated by 2a, Bl, etc.

  4. Avoid the use of "i" and "o" for Column Reference Grid designations.

  5. Column Reference Grids must appear on all Floor Plans and Partial Floor Plans (including Mechanical, Electrical, Structural Drawings, etc.) as well as all Wall Sections, Elevations, Horizontal Sections, etc.

  6. Column Reference Grids need not extend continuously through Floor Plans. If grid is obvious, lines continuing through Floor Plan only restrict the use of space for other items which need to appear on Floor Plans. Avoid extending Column Grid lines through Floor Plans.

  7. Existing columns should be distinguished from new columns.
