Casework and/or Laboratory Equipment


  1. Extent of each type of equipment, clearly distinguished from millwork, etc. (Use specification references.)
  2. Dimensions for principal elements of the work or a catalog number or key which establishes the dimensions and characteristics of the units.
  3. Differentiate between metal, wood, plastic laminate if more than one type is used and specified.
  4. Finish for each item unless all items are of one finish and specified as such in Project Manual.
  5. Special lighting with reference to fixture type (F2, etc.) and referenced to electrical plan or detail where fixture occurs.
  6. Locate and dimension (if pertinent) electrical items appearing on Casework elevations such as duplex receptacles, junction boxes, lighting, etc.
  7. Clarify which counters have splashbacks, in elevation and floor plan.
  8. Indicate upper cabinets, shelves, etc. in plan by dashed lines.
  9. Indicate furring and furring material over upper cabinets or shelf units, if applicable.
  10. Clearly distinguish between Plastic Laminate tops, "Lab Grade" tops, stainless steel tops, stone tops, etc. with appropriate "Specification Reference."
  11. Clearly indicate and distinguish between sinks, lavatories, equipment, etc. specified with tops or casework as opposed to those specified under Division 5 sections (Mechanical) by use of cross referencing and "Specifications Reference."
  12. "Drawing Title Designation" on all Casework and Laboratory Equipment elevations.
  13. Indicate proper clearances between counter top and cabinets or shelves above.
  14. Indicate locks on cabinets, drawers, etc., where required.
  15. Indicate special items such as label holders, etc. unless they are a part of the unit specified.
