Stairs
- Stairs may be "Custom Designed" and if so, all components must be clearly detailed, all members sized and handrails completely detailed.
- Stairs may be "Pre-assembled" and if so, only Riser and Tread dimensions need to be given, the construction of stair shaft, roof construction, etc.
- Enlarged Plan of stairs at 3/8" minimum.
- Column Reference Grids on Enlarged Plans and Sections.
- Indication of North on all Enlarged Plans.
- Dimension shaft clearances, stair widths, platforms, etc.
- Full Section or Sections depending on complexity.
- Number of risers and treads.
- Floor to floor heights.
- Size of all members supporting stairs (if custom designed).
- Enlarged detail of typical riser and tread (if custom designed).
- Handrail details (Stringer and Wall) (if custom designed).
- Connections of stairs at floors and intermediate platforms (if custom designed).
- Indicate extent of base if called for in Finish Schedule.
- Review stair with Structural Consultant (if custom designed).
- Handicapped Considerations
- Maximum height of risers - 7 inches
- Minimum height of risers - 4 inches
- Maximum tread depth-14 inches
- Minimum tread depth - 11 inches
- Non-slip surface on treads.
- Check applicable codes for required design of handrails and/or guard rails.
- Coordinate the design of concrete stairs with Structural Details.
- "Drawing Title Designation" on all Enlarged Plans, or Sections, etc.
