Floor Plan - Lighting


  1. Coordinate with Architectural Floor Plans and Reflected Ceiling Plans.
  2. Indication of North.
  3. "Drawing Title Designation" for Floor Plan.
  4. Reference items on Lighting Plans to the details of these items appearing on other sheets.
  5. Include a note to read: "See sheet __ (Information Sheet) for clarification of Symbols used." List any additional Symbols on Electrical Sheets.
  6. Column Reference Grids:
    1. Coordinate with Architectural Floor Plans and Reflected Ceiling Plans.
  7. Room Names and Numbers:
    1. Coordinate with Architectural Floor Plans.
  8. All Fixtures indicated with appropriate "F" designation.
  9. Locate, by dimension, all Exterior Lighting Fixtures in Parking Areas and on Exterior Building Walls and Interior Fixtures no related to the Grid System.
  10. Fixture Schedule with Pictorial Views adjacent to the Schedule.
  11. Mounting heights for all Fixtures (may be combined with Fixture Schedule).
  12. Door Swings shall match Architectural Floor Plans.
  13. Coordinate Wall Switches with Door Swings.
  14. Check for conflicts between recessed Fixtures and Ductwork, Piping, etc.
  15. Coordinate location of Lighting Panels with Power Panels, Emergency Panels, etc. and coordinate with Panelboard Schedules.
  16. Indicate location of Dimmers.
  17. Lighting Fixture installation details, especially for Exterior Fixtures.
  18. Check clearances and location of Suspended Fixtures where Roll-up Doors occur.
  19. Coordinate Fixture installation with U.L. Systems selected.
  20. Use "Reference Designation" (hexagon) for repetitive items with a legend of "Clarification of Reference Designations."
  21. Indicate Fixtures on Emergency Circuits.
  22. Coordinate Ceiling Finishes with Fixtures specified.
  23. Coordinate special Lighting, Junction Boxes, etc. for Millwork with Architectural Millwork Details.
  24. Coordinate Fixtures selected with type of Ceiling being used ( concealed spline, exposed grid, etc.)
  25. Check codes for Exterior Lighting required at all "required means of egress." Must be on emergency circuit.
  26. Cross Corridors, double egress Doors forming smoke barriers on horizontal exits require Exit signs on both sides of Doors.
  27. Refer to "Reflected Ceiling Plan" for exact locations of items in or on ceiling.
  28. Coordinate the location of Exit lights at Doors.
