Exterior Elevations


Checklist

  1. Grade line at building should be drawn to grades appearing on grading plan. Exaggerate grade line, if necessary.

  2. Column Reference Grid Designations - Normally only those Column Lines which occur on the particular elevation being drawn.

  3. Floor to Floor heights indicated by dimensions.

  4. Floor Levels Indicated (such as 2nd Floor - EL. 15'-0")

  5. Window and Door Openings - It is not necessary to show "Door Designations" or "Window Designations" on Exterior Elevations if these appear on "Floor Plans."

  6. Ladders, louvers, railings, downspouts, bots, access openings, gutters, signs, cornerstones, flashing, splash blocks, etc.

  7. Lightning Protection Air Terminal Indication - Not all terminals need to be drawn, just a few.

  8. Exposed Mechanical or Electrical Equipment occurring on exterior walls such as Hose Bibs, Siamese Connections, Exposed Piping, Light Fixtures, Fire Alarm Horns, Intake and Exhaust Fans and Louvers, etc.

  9. Expansion and Control Joints - Joints through structure, through masonry, through plaster, etc.

  10. Indicate extent of different colors, textures, etc. (such as glazed brick, tile, etc.)

  11. Exposed Mechanical and Electrical Equipment occurring on roofs such as A/C units, fans, fresh air intakes, etc.

  12. Materials Indicated - Use "Key Noting" with "Clarification of Reference Designations" on each sheet of Exterior Elevations.

  13. Section Designations (Optional, but helpful for communication).

  14. Key Plan with "Elevation Designations" and "Indication of North."

  15. "Drawing Title Designation" on all Exterior Elevations corresponding to "Elevation Designations" appearing Key Plan.
