Millwork (Architectural Woodwork)
- Extent of each type of woodwork, clearly distinguished from woodwork of other sections. (Use specification references.)
- Dimensions for principal elements of the work and necessary profiles of trim and mouldings. (Refer to "Moulding Patterns" in Technical Library for stock trim). Use WM designations (numbers).
- Economy Grade, Custom Grade or Premium Grade on each item of millwork unless all items are of one grade and specified as such in Project Manual. (Refer to Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards in Technical Library for grades
and details.)
- Species, cut and grade of wood, veneer and plywood, unless all items are of one type and specified as such in Project Manual.
- Size shelving and size of brackets supporting shelving.
- Finish for each item unless all items are of one finish and specified as such in Project Manual.
- Special lighting with reference to fixture type (F2, etc.) and referenced to electrical plan or detail where fixture occurs.
- Locate and dimension (if pertinent) electrical items appearing on Mill work elevations such as duplex receptacles, junction boxes, lighting, etc.
- Clarify which counters have splashbacks, in elevation and floor plan.
- Indicate upper cabinets, shelves, etc. in plan by dashed lines.
- Indicate furring and furring material over upper cabinets or shelf units, if applicable.
- Clearly distinguished between Plastic Laminate tops, "Lab Grade" tops, stainless steel tops, stone tops, etc. with appropriate "Specifications Reference."
- Clearly indicate and distinguish between sinks, lavatories, equipment, etc. specified with tops or millwork as opposed to those specified under Division 15 Sections
(Mechanical) by use of cross referencing and "Specifications Reference." Does
the sink specified fit in the counter top?
- "Drawing Title Designation" on all Millwork elevations. See example.
- Indicate proper clearances between counter top and cabinets or shelves above. See attached for proper clearances.
- If millwork is for use of handicapped, consult ANSI A 117.1 for requirements.
- Indicate locks on cabinets, drawers, etc., where required.
- Coordinate any miscellaneous hardware not specified under 06400, with Hardware Section 08710.
